Miguel and Vanessa came all the way from Madrid to bring the Waterloo region real Spanish food: a tapas bar and tienda on Benton Street, plus paella parties we cook on location, right there at your event.
Our story
La Lola is Miguel and Vanessa. Miguel is a Spanish-trained chef from Madrid; Vanessa is half-Spanish, half-Canadian and the businesswoman of the pair. They moved to Ontario from Madrid in 2019 with their two kids and opened that September, and they have been cooking paella parties and hosting guests in their tapas bar and tienda ever since, sharing imported Spanish wines, cheeses, charcuteria and homemade Spanish food. The name is a nod to Lola Flores, the Spanish icon whose passion and arte still set the tone in the room. La Lola is a safe and inclusive space for everyone.

What we do
Come in for tapas, let us cater your paella party, or stock up at the tienda.
Authentic Spanish tapas and homemade sangria on the patio or inside for an intimate feel. There is no fixed menu: classics like croquetas are always on, and the weekly offerings go up on the chalkboard. Paella is served Friday and Saturday only, and the kind rotates each week. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended.
Authentic homemade paella for family and friends at your home or event space, prepared and served right there. Pricing is per person and includes preparation and serving. Minimum 20 people, maximum 200, with 48 hours notice. A travel fee applies outside Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph.
Our store carries authentic Spanish wines, cheeses, charcuteria and gourmet products imported straight from Spain. Open Wednesday to Friday 5 to 8pm and Saturday 12 to 6pm.
